Abstract:
Mice were given (ig) Apazin™ extract three times a day. The total amount of the compound was 58.182g/kg (equivalent to 387.88g/kg crude drugs), which was 1077.44 times the clinical dosage (18g/day) for adult.

Objective:
LD50 can not be measured because of the low toxicity of Apazin™; however, its toxicity can be reflected through the measurement of a day’s maximum tolerance.

Materials:
1. Apazin™ extract, provided by LIFEnhance, Inc., is a brown extract, with batch number 20020403. 0.15g extract is equal to 1g crude drugs. It is mixed with distilled water into the concentration of 96.97%, which is stored in refrigerator at 4°C for use.

2. Animals, provided by Hubei Animal Experiment Center, were Kunming-breed mice with the weight of 19±1g, and with the same number of ? (male) ? (female). The mouse food was also purchased from Hubei Animal Experiment Center.

Methods:
According to the requirement of the literature [1], 22 Kunming-breed mice, with the weight of 19±1g, and the same number of ? (male) ? (female), were given nothing but water for 16 hours. They were then given 19.394g of Apazin™ at a time (20ml/kg) three times daily and were then observed at least once a day for 7 consecutive days to see their reaction.

Results:
No mice died after taking the compound and no abnormal phenomena was observed in their activities except the following: their excrement softened and darken in color. They ate a little less after being given the medicine twice. The next day, all activities became normal. According to the formula in the literature, the tolerance times is calculated as follows

Per mice’s tolerance adult average weight (50,000g)
br>The mice’s tolerance times= ×
Average weight (20g) adult’s daily dosage
7.75g × 3 50000g
= × =1077.44 times
20g 18g

19.394g/Kg ×3=58.182g/kg medicine, equal to 387.88g/kg crude drugs. The mice tolerance is 1077.44 times adult’s dosage.
